REPUBLICAN SNEAK ATTACK
You may have noticed Jim Sutton's piece in Saturday's Record encouraging Democrats to temporarily change party in order to vote in the Primary commissioners race. The Republicans dug up a former Republican, got him to change party to Libertarian, and run in the primary, closing the election to everyone but Republicans. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE A REGISTERED DEMOCRAT OR INDEPENDENT. Many who changed in 2004 to vote for Shoar never returned to the party.
A better way to address this slimy tactic is to work to expose the money deals underwriting the incumbents in both commissioner races. Check out the SJC VOTES website and see who's funding these people. They don't have our interests at heart. See for yourself. Follow the money trail on some of these land deals. Who benefits from that? We have a sunshine law in Florida; all this information is open to citizens. Time to get busy on that level, just like we did for the bottling plant. We scared them off by digging and digging and making our stand uncompromisingly. They heard us and they left.
